The Plant
Hapé is a sacred shamanic snuff medicine used for thousands of years by tribes of the Amazon and South American indigenous cultures to heal, ground, purify, and connect with spirit. Hapé is ceremonial tobacco blend made from ash of medicinal plants, leaves, trees, bark, roots and seeds. It is grown for the purpose of ceremony. It is not the same tobacco that is used in cigarettes, but rather Nicotina Rustica, a type of tobacco also known as mapacho.
When served with respect and intention, Hapé becomes a powerful ally — opening the energetic body, offering clarity, protection, and deep spiritual connection. It is a spiritual experience, not a substance. It invites communion with the earth, spirit and ancestral wisdom, helping you come fully into the present moment.
Hapé is traditionally administered through a ceremonial pipe called a Tepi, gently delivered one nostril at a time by the facilitator. This act becomes a prayer — a cleansing of the mind and heart — and a beautiful preparation for the meditative depth of the sound journey to follow.
